March Meme Review : My Team’s Best Content

Look : marketing is fun, but social media is a lot of work. Not only do you have to come up with a ton of new and fresh ideas to boost engagement, those ideas also have to be feasible (ugh), and you have to actually go to the effort to make them (double ugh). Luckily, I’m mostly responsible for writing, which though tiring, doesn’t require me to use photoshop or take pictures myself. So to recognize the hard work of my teammates, here’s a review of my favourite memes from March, why I think they work, and what might be improved.

#5 Plain but effective

What works :

This meme gets straight to the point. What does our product do? Help you clean so you can relax. It’s a popular meme format that’s easy to understand, and anyone who sees it will very quickly know what it’s about.

What could be improved :

It’s a bit… Dull? There’s no picture and it’s monochromatic, so there’s not a ton of visual interest. It’s also not exactly funny, despite being a meme, which makes it pretty forgettable despite how to the point it is.

Overall Rating : 4/10

#4 Painfully relatable

What works :

Already a huge improvement from the last one — with the added emoji, there’s not just visual content, but a more tangible emotional mood. Another relatively common meme format, which makes it easy to understand, and the feeling of driving people away with your passionate, psychotic ramblings is very relatable.

What could be improved :

The relatability — the feeling you relate to is impassioned speeches scaring people off, not talking about your Narwal specifically. While this meme may serve to humanize our social media team, most other people won’t feel the same way. If this meme were about the endless cycle of having a dirty floor, cleaning it, spending two minutes admiring it, and then watching it get dirty again (a problem our robot could help with!), it would be much more relatable.

Overall Rating : 6/10

#3 On-point music

TikTok videos don’t format correctly on some platforms, sorry if you’ve suffered a huge blank space here 🤦

What works :

Short, sweet, and to the point. The music is a perfect fit for what we’re trying to convey and isn’t annoying to listen to (if you’ve ever watched a compilation of TikToks that all use the same sound, you know exactly what I mean by annoying). Also, the pictures of our robot look great in contrast to the mop and broom shown at the start of the video.

What could be improved :

…Maybe a little too great? Making our product look good in contrast to others is obviously a good idea, but the images at the start of the video look too unprofessional… It almost makes it seem like the video was put together by two different people. Because the start of the video looks too sloppy, it has to lose points — maybe in the future, filming it ourselves would be better.

Overall Rating : 7.5/10

#2 Trendy and high quality

Again, sorry for any formatting issues 🤦

What works :

This is better than just a classic meme format — it’s a current video trend. It’s well shot, has some personality, and highlights how our product can improve people’s lives. While it might be on the more direct, “buy our product” kind of content, this video is relaxed and humorous enough to soften the blow. Plus, you can tell that Daisy had a lot of fun twirling around!

What could be improved :

Daisy covered her beautiful face! I’m kidding… Kind of. Why should we be afraid to let people see that the social media team are people too? By showing ourselves, we can add some personality to the videos and can be more friendly with our fans. In short — everyone needs to stop being so shy!

Overall Rating : 9/10

#1 i cri evrytiem

What works :

Absolutely everything. The emotional content, the self- deprecation — maybe it’s because I’m Gen Z, but this meme is just absolutely shattering my funnybone. I can literally hear this meme : desperate screaming from the woman terrified about the future of technology and whether or not we humans are making ourselves obsolete, contrasted with the cat, with the voice of an old man who’s smoked since before he was born, telling his robot to get off his carpet the same way he might heckle kids to get off his lawn.

I love this meme now, I loved it yesterday, and I will love it until the day I die.

What could be improved :

Nothing. I love it. I laugh every time I see this meme and nothing will stop me.

Overall Rating : 10/10
