Need another reason to smile? Well, trade.io is just about to give you one…

Word on the street is that there’s a new trendy coin popping around, and while the popular coin may have people talking, it’s still unknown to most exchanges.

With that in mind, we are excited to announce that we have now integrated the coin into our crypto exchange, making us one of the first to offer GRIN to clients. Yes, traders, hold onto your hats! You can now look forward to buying and selling GRIN against other popular crypto pairs.

The speedy implementation of the token is down to the trade.io tech wizards who are working around-the-clock to give the firm its remarkable competitive edge.

So, why did the company rush to incorporate it into its offerings?

A new standard of privacy

In simple terms, GRIN is known as the privacy coin. The core strength of GRIN lies in its ability to provide *entirely anonymous* transactions on the blockchain. Because of this, it appeals to the instincts of true crypto anarchists and revolutionaries who want to participate in a financial system without the fear of manipulation or external control.

What does GRIN offer that other coins don’t?

Unlike other coins and blockchains, it doesn’t utilize smart contracts, and it leverages cryptography to allow past transaction data to be removed. In practice, there are no amounts or addresses attached to any GRIN transactions. The sender and the receiver of any given transaction, therefore, remain completely anonymous.

The celebrity of GRIN

Shortly after the official launch of GRIN on January 15th, 2019, the coin quickly became popular across the crypto world. At that time, investor for crypto-focused Primitive Ventures, Eric Meltzer, estimated that the GRIN mining operation had received an investment of $100 million of “mostly VC money.”

GRIN does share certain similarities with Bitcoin. For instance, nobody knows the true identity of the creator of Bitcoin. GRIN’s creator is also known only by his/her pseudonym “Ignotus Peverell.” This name was taken from the invisibility cloak in popular fictitious series, Harry Potter.

While the creator of GRIN is unknown and has never been seen, he/she recently used a text-to-speech program to address attendees during a GRIN conference. The absence of figureheads according to Bitcoin maximalists, is seen as vital to the true decentralization of a digital currency.

So long public ledger.

Many crypto investors and hodlers are devoted to blockchain technologies and currencies regardless of the bear market or coin price. This is because they are devoted to the blockchain technology behind the coin, rather than being interested in any possible short-term gain from trading.

Blockchain technologies also offer solutions to problems inherent in the traditional financial system that simply cannot be fixed through traditional methods. Where cryptos provide a solution to traditional investment assets, GRIN cranks it up a notch by providing a solution to weaknesses in existing popular cryptocurrencies.

By having all transactions recorded on a public ledger for instance, popular cryptos such as Bitcoin provide an element of unavoidable transparency and — to a degree — loss of privacy. This raises the question, can Bitcoin transactions be truly private?

To further complicate this conundrum, researchers have recently developed sophisticated techniques enabling them to link wallet addresses with real-life identities. This technique allows law enforcement, as well as government officials, to track and monitor the records of every transaction of users on a blockchain.

The MimbleWimble protocol on which GRIN is based, addresses this issue, head on. Blockchain leverages cryptography to enable the removal of most of the data of past transactions, ensuring that GRIN will not collapse under the heavy weight of transactions in the long term, while ensuring the privacy of transactions. GRIN advocates are also of the view that digital currencies based on MimbleWimble, could also actually be more scalable.
