Our subconscious has a running commentary that goes on throughout the day. And its job is to tell us everything that is wrong with us.

Having someone tell you that you are a failure everyday, can take a toll on your mental health. Negative self-talk can push you towards a myriad of mental health disorders like depression, PTSD, and anxiety.

Self-talk is not real, it is a perspective of people and situations that we want to believe regardless of the truth. If we want to believe that we have been wronged by a colleague then we will build a commentary focusing on their shortcomings and bad habit that will align with our perspective.

We tell ourselves what we want to be true. And most times it is far from the truth.

We have a negative bias. That means we are wired to look for the negative in every situation and person, including ourselves. One fuck up is enough to push you into the negative self-talk pit.

Something went wrong at work and now a few hours later you are blaming yourself for your parent's divorce while drinking, on the brink of alcoholism.
