Tao /dao— the way

I read a lot of really great books in 2017 and sought out a lot of new ideas. None of these were more influential for me than the Tao Te Ching (or Dao De Jing).

As I’ve read and reread it, I’ve gotten so much enjoyment out of the insights it has brought me. I’ve wanted a way to solidify and share those insights, and so I’m starting this series of blog posts.

My intention is to publish a blog post about each of the 81 chapters and their meaning to me.

The 56th chapter begins:

Those who know don’t talk.
Those who talk don’t know.

I want to make it clear that my thoughts on these things are simply mine. I can’t say what, if anything, these things should mean to you. It is my hope that in sharing and discussing these thoughts, my reader might come to his/her own thoughts on these things.

I’ll be referencing the translation by Stephen Mitchell for the most part, which can be read online in its entirety here, or listened to on Audible.com here. It’s also available in print here.

Without further ado, then, here are my posts:

Chapter 1 — The Eternal Dao
Chapter 2 — Duality (or is it?)
Chapter 3 — Equality
