Here’s what the Kurds want Americans to know about the war against the Islamic State

When Islamic State militants attacked northern Iraq in late July and early August, tens of thousands of people from the Yezidi religious group ran for their lives. In September, I spent a week in the Kurdish parts of Turkey, Iraq and Syria, reporting on the Yezidis’ plight.
