Today is the sixth day of Kwanzaa.

Let’s just hypothetically say today the “Zombie Apocalypse” started in the United States.

I know. Just roll with me.

How would Black folks fare in a state of chaos and disaster?

Black folks managed to still exist in America through disorder, disease, economic depression, recession, shut downs, natural disasters, ozone deterioration, climate change, and many other hard times all while facing significant systemic disadvantage and discrimination.

How is that?

Creativity.

Ingenuity.

Innovation.

Whatever you want to call it, inherent survivalist mechanisms have allowed Black people to exisit and advanced in spite of the conditions they live in.

Surviving is not just about staying alive. It’s about responding, adapting, and the willingness to create out of the nothingness when all seems lost and forgotten.

Keep on.

P.S. The Black Folks Guide To Surviving The Zombie Apocalypse to come!

Reflect on this and decide how you will apply your skills and ingenuity in the New Year. Don’t forget get: write it down! The pen brings many things to light and to life.
