A ritual is defined as a religious or solemn ceremony consisting of a series of actions performed according to a prescribed order. What are your daily success rituals? To be successful selling, you need to have a planned out schedule on how you will attack your day. You need a series of actions performed in a prescribed order. What are yours? Here are some of my rituals:

1)Beat the Sun Up: Get up in the morning at least 2 hours before I need to be any place. If I need to be somewhere at 8 I’m at least getting up by 6, but probably earlier. I believe in sleep — I think it’s important for my body to rest and I try and get 8 hours a night. Allow your body time to wake up and your mind to become focused.

If you’re getting up at 7:45 to rush off to work at 9 you’re rushing all day long. It doesn’t set up a good day. It doesn’t set you up to become in control of time. If you’ve ever heard the saying time is money than you want to control time. If you’re up at 5 or 6 then you have 3 or 4 hours to start thinking about your goals for the day and get excited. Beat the sun up!

2)Workout: I’m talking to two people today — I’m talking to you, and I’m talking to the other you. I’m talking to the you that hasn’t been working out, and I’m talking to the you that used to work out and dug it. Do you remember that guy or gal? Workouts are important. I’m not talking about joining a gym, I’m talking about getting the blood flow going and getting energized. Control when you wake up and control your body. I can do a workout anywhere — I don’t need to sign up to a gym. I can do 10 push-ups, 10 sit-ups, 10 jumping jacks, 10 squats — 10 of anything just start moving.

Pick out 10 exercises, like running in place for 10 seconds. I’m not just talking about looking good or building muscle, I’m talking about waking up in the morning and getting in control this physical unit that I’m carrying around with me everywhere I go. I need to take care of it because I drag it around with me everywhere on this planet. Take control of your body. When you are in control of yourself you can control any situation. Wake up daily and do your 10X exercises for at least 10 minutes.

3)Get Focused on the Prize: It’s not about a sale, it’s about the prize. What is the prize? I know in the past I’ve found myself just driving to work, just going to work, just making calls. WHAT IS THE PRIZE? Is it an award, esteem, best in the industry — I don’t what your prize is. If you don’t know, you won’t get it. Forgetting the prize can lower production and results.

Write down what your prizes are. When I focus on the prize, my attitude changes, my posture changes, and I can persist in a deal. By focusing on “the prize” your attention gets placed on a target and a purpose for making calls versus just making calls.

Beating the sun up, working out, and getting focused on the prize isn’t everything you need for success, but it’s a great way to start.
