1. Banter VR

From the minds behind SideQuest, Banter is the Social VR sandbox where you can get together with pals (and make many new ones) and portal across the Bantaverse — a wide range of wacky worlds filled with… a whole bunch of weird sh*t, to be honest.

There are worlds to explore, people to meet, events to attend, and much more—and it’s all ready to experience for free!

[Get in on the Banter and play for free on SideQuest!]

2. Population: One

The world’s #1 battle royal shooter in VR is fun, frantic, and free to play!

Run, jump, climb, and even fly throughout the maps to rain bullets from above in the classic Battle Royale and Team Deathmatch modes. Or dig into the vast library of user-generated maps and modes, find your tribe, and start having a blast! Pop One is a true VR classic—and one of our top free picks.

[Enter the Battle Royale and play Population: One on the Official Store]

3. Gorilla Tag

One of SideQuest’s biggest breakout smash hits, Gorilla Tag’s simple, yet addictive brand of ‘tag’ stands out because of the unique locomotion options offered when you reject humanity.

No buttons. No sticks. No teleportation. Movement in Gorilla Tag relies solely on your arm movements. Easy to learn, but hard to master, how will you find life as a gorilla?

[Reject humanity, become monke, and get Gorilla Tag on the Official Store]

4. Hyper Dash

Another SideQuest to Official Store mainstay, Hyper Dash is an extremely addictive team-based shooter that brings a whole new meaning to ‘speed’. With 7 exhilarating game modes, the gunplay is polished to perfection—and the community of modders is actively encouraged to ‘mutate’ the game to create exciting new ways to experience Hyper Dash. Honestly, we can’t get over the fact that it’s free to play!

[Dash to the Official Store to get Hyper Dash today!]

5. Harvest VR

Admit it: you’ve been itching for a VR farming sim… and Harvest VR is here to Scratch. That.

The addictive farming loop of reap, sow, reap, look after animals, sow, fish, mine, cook, reap… you get the idea—it’s all here! And with buttery smooth object interaction, more than 30 different plants to grow, animals to care for, fish to… er… fish—and much more!—you can work hard or hardly work in Harvest VR!

[Reap the Harvest (VR) today on App Lab]

6. Spatial Ops

We love Spatial Ops because of just how ambitious it is—and now that the Quest 3 and its Mixed Reality capability is here, there’s been no better time to suit up and get your Spatial Ops on!

So long as you and your friends all have a headset, you just need an open space to play locally in, establish the obstacles, and then you’ve got intense MR laser tag at your fingertips! And if you prefer to play solo, they’ve got plenty of bots to keep you company.

[Clear the room and sideload Spatial Ops right now!]

7. Drakheir

We talked about Drakheir in our 2023 Indie Spotlight—and it’s already even better!

In their epic quest to bring seamless hand tracking to fantasy VR, the devs are taking feedback very seriously—so jump into the world of Drakheir, experience spell-slinging combat like never before, engage with the charming story and minigames—and leave all the valuable feedback you can. We can smell the potential of this one like a dragon-singed BBQ. And it smells good.

[Become the Drakheir and play for free on App Lab]

8. Cactus Cowboy: Plants at War

Shooters have never been this succulent.

Join the now famous Cactus Cowboy (and brother-in-arms, Emilio) in one of his earlier adventures in this WW2-themed epic shoot-’em-up against the pesky bug army. The campaign is filled to the brim with… weirdness. But it’s backed up by incredibly entertaining gunplay, grenades, bugs, bombs, and much more! You won’t find thorny issues here.

And if you love this, you should also check out the studio’s latest: Cactus Cowboy: Desert Warfare!

[Chloro-fill your army boots with Cactus Cowboy: Plants at War on App Lab]

9. Meteoric VR

Get ready for low-poly nostalgia! In Meteoric, it’s your job to defend the earth against the constant hail of incoming meteorites, rack-up sweet high scores, and master the art of hand tracking to succeed. Plus, with meteorites coming thick and fast, you’ll even get a decent workout in while you play!

And recent updates have made it even better—you can now blast away in Mixed Reality, turning your gaming space into a meteorite mash-fest!

[Feel the deep impact of Meteoric VR—mageddon on App Lab]

10. Hibow

Master the way of the Hibow and experience intense multiplayer action where skill—and quick reflexes—are richly rewarded.

Enter the Hibow arena and go head-to-head with your friends and folks worldwide as you work together (or not, in deathmatch) to master arrow-flight physics and win the day in this free-to-play open beta!

[Follow the arrow ——> for Hibow on App Lab!]

11. Cards & Tankards

Grab your deck (ditch the filthy mind) and raise your tankard as you join your friends in the ‘best VR card game I’ve ever played’—according to Ben Plays VR. And we agree!

Cards and Tankards is another SideQuest success story, breaking through to the Official Store because of its charming, addictive, and deep card-based gameplay—and even cross-platform multiplayer, so you’ll always keep your friends in the game!

[Rejoice! And raise your Cards and Tankards on the Official Store!]

12. Open Brush

We love a creative community—and Open Brush fits the bill perfectly as a community-created evolution of the popular Tilt Brush!

Turn your room into a 3D canvas and paint your way, with a huge range of brush styles, colors, effects, and shapes to help you get your creative juices flowing. The only limit: your imagination!

[Brush up on your art skills in 3D with Open Brush on App Lab]

13. Bounty City

Our SideKicks get a… kick out of Bounty City—and we’re sure you will, too!

Remixing the standard 5v5 multiplayer format you’ll often find in other VR shooters you’ll be playing in 3 teams of 3 rugged crooks in a contest to score the biggest and best pile of swag! Cooperation and deception are the name of the game here—as is a quick trigger finger!

[Claim Bounty City for free on App Lab today!]

14. Vertical Shift

Take flight and master the movement mechanics of Vertical Shift, where (as you’d expect) you’ll be soaring through the skies using jetpacks, grapple hooks, and gliders to get the drop on your foes, complete the missions, and climb the leaderboards. There are 4 multiplayer modes to master and even a fleshed-out single-player campaign to sink your wingsuit into.

[Rule the skies in Vertical Shift on App Lab]

15. Enhance VR

Improve your cognitive functions with Enhance VR—the free-to-play brain trainer that’ll get your mind in ship shape.

The more you play, the more exercise your mind will get! Enhance VR is tested to help you improve your: memory, attention span, problem-solving abilities, motor control, and more.

[Start your journey to self improvement with Enhance VR on App Lab]

16. Dreamland

As you’d expect from a title like ‘Dreamland’, here you’ll enter a world of mystery and wonder—and plenty of challenge to boot!

Invite your friends to join your team, customize your avatar, and head out on a range of exciting missions that’ll push all of your VR gaming skills to the limit!

[Enter Dreamland and test your skills on App Lab]

17. Gravity League

Strap on your Gravity Gloves and get ready to be smashed in the face by a panda (and a host of other characters) in Gravity League—the ball game where gravity can’t hold you back.

The rules are simple: 2 players. 1 ball. Zero gravity. First to 11 wins.

You can challenge players online across the VR-verse OR team up with friends for some intense 2v2 action. Either way, there can only be one champ of the Gravity League.

[Give zero Gs? Float into Gravity League on App Lab today!]

18. Pioneer: Endless Journey

Pioneer: Endless Journey’s island in the sky is waiting for you to explore…

A charming rogue-lite that’ll have you puzzle-solving, crafting, and fighting your way across each map—that’ll be different every time you load up. The crafting system in particular is fun and engaging, with a ton of weapon combinations to unlock and experiment with—and you’ll need to! The enemies will never be quite the same, so you can’t rely on just one strategy to make it through.

[Take on roguelite action in Pioneer: Endless Journey on App Lab]

19. The Passage

This is a short experience, clocking in at around 20 minutes of playtime, but The Passage is an experience worth having.

Exploring humankind’s most primal fear, The Passage thrusts you into the unknown and grips you all the way. We won’t spoil it…

[Enter The Passage by sideloading and prepare for some horror]

20. The Obsessive Shadow

An intense survival horror, it’s up to you to escape from the stranger at your window and The Obsessive Shadow stalking your movements.

Your flashlight’s definitely your friend in this one—you’re not armed with anything else! Can you survive the night?
