A Winter Awed Filled Break

Captured in stillness
luring nature-filled setting
awed transformation

The smell of a wood-burning fireplace filled the air last night as we arrived at our destination.

My husband and I enjoyed our date night together at Starved Rock National Park in Illinois. We got a later start than we wanted. It was dark by the time we arrived, but the lodge was full of laughter and wine glasses clinging.

We have been here several times before. As soon as we got out of the car, I was awed by the essence of healing abilities all around me.

Our dinner was relaxing, and the BBQ burgers paired with crafted beer were food for our souls. We realized it had been several months since just the two of us had been out.

We ended up spending the night. In the morning, we sipped coffee near the frozen calming river while soaking up the beauty of nature.

My spirit feels transformed from our time together in nature. We laughed, cried, and enjoyed every minute together.
