SparkLearn EdTech’s 2nd Blockchain Developer Bootcamp now in full swing
The second installment of SparkLearn Edtech’s flagship program Blockchain Developer Bootcamp is now ongoing
The highly anticipated Blockchain Developer Bootcamp (BDB) from the education arm of SparkPoint, SparkLearn EdTech Inc. (SparkLearn), is now in full swing, following the virtual opening event on September 5, 2022.
The opening program of BDB was attended by the latest cohort of learners and officials from SparkLearn and SparkPoint Technologies Inc. The event was also graced by the director of ICT Industry Development Bureau of Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT-IIDB), Ms. Emmy Lou Delfin. She gave her welcome message to the attendees and shared an overview of the national government’s plans for emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Blockchain Technology, and Cloud Computing. Melissa Mesias, SparkLearn’s co-founder and CEO is also the host of the said event.
After the welcome remarks, the mentors, consultants, and facilitators were introduced one by one and was followed by the orientation for the cohort. The orientation included instructions on how to access the coverage and course outlines for the bootcamp, exercises and project page viewing the learner’s progress and grades, overview of the capstone project, among other things, the schedule of mentoring, consultations, and other reminders.
Upskilling: SparkLearn’s path in the blockchain world
In the recent 2022 Global Crypto Adoption Index report by Chainalysis — a blockchain data platform, the Philippines ranked second globally, after Vietnam, in terms of crypto adoption. With the given data, Philippines can be said and proved to be a hotspot of blockchain adoption, with centralized finance (CeFi) and decentralized finance (DeFi) as the blockchain application use-case as the biggest factor that pushed the Philippines ranking. And with the current trend, a lot of developers now in the country have started shifting to Web3 development on which crypto and blockchain plays an essential role, and of course, because of the growing opportunity that blockchain adoption entails. That’s where SparkLearn have envisioned themselves, taking the position of upskilling existing Web2 developers, and equipping them with the technical knowledge to become Web3 developers.

The bootcamps covers wide but specific fundamental topics on which the cohort will be dipped into. It starts with the introduction of Solidity programming language, followed by lessons about smart contract structures, Web3js and decentralized applications, fetching and writing data to the blockchain and ending with the cohort’s capstone project. Everything which the cohort will learn and accomplish within a 12-week timeframe.
During a Twitter Space session “#SparkySpace EP02: Beyong Blockchain Learning” hosted by SparkPoint, CEO Melissa Mesias said and emphasized on the “holistic approach” way of teaching the cohort about becoming Web3 developers, aside from all the technicalities of the courses. Melissa also shared realistic Web3 careers that the finishers of the bootcamp could take, specifically as full-time blockchain developers in the tech companies linked to SparkLearn, like Blockchain Space and INB Project, on which are also respective industry partner and sponsors of this year’s BDB.
Beyond SparkLearn’s Bootcamp
SparkLearn won’t be just offering a bootcamp to produce Web3 developers, but also, they’re developing an education-technology (edtech) platform that will offer free Web3 courses, compilation of fundamental information about blockchain tech, non-fungible tokens or NFT, and many other aspects that will be covered by the edtech platform in the future.
Through partnerships and linkages of SparkLearn in the Web3 industry, SparkLearn plans to widen the scope of their edtech platform. With the ongoing partnerships with Web3 companies and projects like MetaGaming Guild and Blockchain Space, SparkLearn will explore the possibility of putting up a Game Finance (GameFi) course that focuses on the technicalities of building dapps for gaming and getting payouts from play-to-earn (P2E) games. It’s a well knows fact in the country on how P2E games stormed the nation at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic as an alternative means of earning money, which paved the way for more Filipinos to know more about crypto, NFTs and blockchain, GameFi in general.
Melissa also mentioned in the Twitter Space session that they also plan to open a Full Stack Developer Bootcamp, with the goal of producing more software developers in the company. She added that there will be also an NFT masterclass that will be launched in SparkLearn’s platform soon, that will help onboard creatives to the NFT world.
