I Drank 4 Liters of Water Daily for 500 Days — This Is What Happened
Personal experience on drinking so much water daily
Water balance is essential for your health. About 60% of your body consists of water. So, drinking enough water seems like a good plan.
But what is “enough water”?
There are different daily norms for men and women. The place where you live also affects your daily norm. According to the U.S. National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine, norms are the following:
- 16 cups (~4 liters) of water for men
- 12 cups (~3 liters) of water for women
That’s a lot of water to drink daily.
We receive about 20% of the required daily water norm with food. Especially good for you are fruits and vegetables. Water-rich food compensates for 3–4 daily cups of water.
Luckily, we can take into account all types of liquids: cola, tea, coffee, juice, milkshakes, and pure water. However, if someone drinks 4 liters of cola a day, his health will not improve, even the water balance will be high.
The best idea is to drink pure water on a daily basis.
