Why iOS apps are higher quality?

I have used an iPhone since version 1 and loved it. I switched to a Windows Phone for about 6 months because I was creating apps for it. I liked it too but the apps sucked — including mine :( I just switched to Android 2 months ago and really love the customization and widgets but I am switching back to iOS. Mostly because I want to donate my finger print to the NSA hopefully they will take me off the random search list. Seriously speaking though, I am switching back because the apps are better.

Even apps from the same author are better on iOS — just look at the Facebook app on all platforms.

My Theory

Apps are created by programmers which leads me to think that iOS programmers must be better than the rest of us. My theory is that iOS apps are better because Objective-C is fucking hard. That makes it harder for mediocre developers to “get it”. I have been programming for 15 years. I picked up ruby on rails in a week. I picked up python in a weekend. I learned coffee script in hours. I can do c#, vb, javascript, sql, etc… But for some reason I find Objective-C ugly and hard and can’t wrap my mind around it. This makes me sad and makes me think, maybe I am just a mediocre programmer :(
