Unfortunately for iPhone users, Apple doesn’t allow payment apps other than its own, so iPhone users have to use their web browsers to access bitcoin apps.

Luckily you have an Android phone. Let’s get started.

Right now you have a piece of paper with some funky looking squares. You were told it holds bitcoin.

(what is bitcoin?)

If you’re new to virtual money, this should help get you started.

Bitcoin Paper Wallet

You have this (a bitcoin paper wallet)! This paper is holding onto some bitcoins ready to be taken!

To send and receive Bitcoin, you use a wallet. With a Bitcoin Wallet, you can send and receive bitcoin to anyone in the world.

“Hold up. What is a wallet?”

Oh right, here is a comparison to something you might already understand.

There are services so that you can send and receive Bitcoin using SMS, Twitter, Email, whatever

There are many different bitcoin wallets available for you to choose from. Although ideally, a bitcoin wallet available on your phone is handy!

While there are many options available, for this tutorial I’m using Mycelium. Either click here or find Mycelium on the Google Play Store.

Follow the prompts, or use the picture for help!

Follow the orange arrows and circles!

Voila, done.

Great! What can I do with my bitcoin now?

Now you can send money faster and cheaper then with a credit card; and to anyone with a phone, not just merchants.

Wish to see Bitcoin used on campus?
