Lectio

“Let me see your face,
let me hear your voice,
for your voice is soft
and your face is comely”
— Song of Songs 2:14
Once. Twice. Three times I read these words,
and with each time they become
a little slower,
a little quieter.
They cease to be words.
Though I stumble over them,
they become something else:
a prayer;
a question;
a desire.
This is the first in a series of four poems based on the practice of Lectio Divina. The next poem is Meditatio.
