A duelist’s journey, a UX perspective
When we first started to envision the use cases of dueltoken.io, we were picturing gamers battling each other in their favorite games on any platform at countless occasions and in a very easy way. The underlying architecture of dueltoken.io is designed exactly to enable this seamless experience in the best way possible and to create a solid foundation that is extendable no matter what direction the community wants to take.
Game integrations
Which games will be supported? Well that is entirely up to the community. We as founders will do everything in our power to support the games that are on top of the community’s wish list. But as we see dueltoken.io as a community driven platform, we will provide the tools necessary to create an integration for any game on any platform. There will be two types of integrations possible. A first one will be an integration by a game creator (Valve, Ubisoft, Riot Games,..) who will connect with the dueltoken.io platform natively. Apart of incentivizing these companies for incorporating dueltoken.io in their games, we will put a community feedback mechanism in place so that the community can raise their voice on how they want to duel one another. A second type of integration is what we like to call a third party integration. For larger game titles this is the type where we initially will put more focus on. Any individual can use the third party integration tools to set-up duels for their favorite games. Creating duel integrations is incentivized in a way where they earn more depending on how many people are dueling trough their integration. This will not only increase the amount of possible duels, but will also help with the adoption of the platform and extending the community. As we see tremendous value in these integrations, we think it’s of great importance to provide the community the right tools to integrate games swiftly and seamlessly.
The dueltoken.io agent
A dueltoken agent is a platform specific tool that can be seen as a portal to the dueltoken engine. It can come in multiple shapes and sizes: a desktop agent, a smartphone agent, a web browser agent or any other platform you can think of. The agent will ensure your connection to the blockchain and the dueltoken engine. This way your anonymity is secured and you will have an authorized connection to your duel tokens without too much hassle. Initially we will focus on browser and desktop integration agents as we see most market potential on these platforms. For the desktop agent the idea is to build a flexible app on top so that your favorite games can benefit from in-game overlays and features such as notifications of receiving duels. For the browser agent the plan is to build a plug-in along the lines of MetaMask. By building an app on top of the agent, game integrators will have a default way of providing duels to our duelists. This ensures a user experience that doesn’t deviate between several games and will provide a natural interaction for dueling across all the different games.
To summarize the capabilities of the dueltoken.io app:
- Authentication to your duel account
- Enabling game accounts integrations
- Standard account management features, leaderboard and match history
- Repository of game contracts
- Listing of active open duels
- Creating new duels, with a targeted player or not
- Matchmaking features: case by case for each game
This app will serve the primary function of creating and using a duel account. Your duel account will support multiple integrations, meaning that you’ll be able to link your duel ID to your in-game names and accounts. That way you will be able to duel on your favorite popular games, find friends, and put a face on the person you’re dueling rather than seeing an Ethereum address. As a duelist, you will also find an interface to manage your account and enjoy some core functionalities like transfer tokens, view your spot on the leaderboard or take a look at your match history.
Every time a new integration is published, it will be visible for all app users to see. The app will act as a catalog of all existing duel integrations, so that you can browse through the list of existing games and decide what type of duel you feel like winning.
For every game listed, the app will integrate a few key features. The implementation will vary case by case, depending on the integrations between the game and dueltoken.io and also the format of the game. Whether it is viewing the list of active open duels, creating a new duel request or matchmaking: the key features are about participating in duels and starting to play.
