7 macOS Tricks You’ll Wish You Knew YEARS Before
Oh-so-helpful tips you’ve always needed
#1. “Move” files across drives (not copy) 💾
You might already knew this —
When you drag a file across local folders on your Mac, it gets moved.
But when you try that between a local folder and an external drive, it gets copied, na?
So if you actually intended to move it, you have to come back and delete the original file. 😕
How do you *directly* move it?
Just hold ⌘ while you drag the file. This will move the file, instead of copying.
Another way, you can copy the file using ⌘+C, and move it using ⌘+⌥+V at the destination.
Bonus feature
To copy a file, even when the default behaviour is move, hold ⌥ while you drag it.
#2. Make important files more accessible 🗂️
Let’s say you have a folder called “Project” where you store lots of important docs, and access them regularly.
But alas, it’s in Finder < iCloud Drive < Office Files < Important < …∞… < My Files.
