— User A —

— User F —

Gender: Female

How often do you attend events in your college town?

User E: 5–6/week

User A: 4/week

User F: 7/week

How do you usually hear about these events?

User E: Word of mouth, friends, Facebook

User A: Word of mouth, friends, Facebook

User F: Facebook, friends (word of mouth)

Do you use any services to find out about events (Facebook, Meetup.com, Eventbrite, etc.)?

User E: Facebook

User A: Facebook, but back in the day people tweeting about parties used to be a thing…

User F: Facebook

Why do you use a particular service?

User E: Because I do a lot of other stuff on Facebook — Convenient.

User A: Easy way to get a mass amount of people to find out about it

User F: People will invite me to events

What you like/dislike about that service?

User E: Sometimes there are events that I know of, but I can’t find on Facebook. I like that I can send & receive an electronic invite. I like that I can say that I’m interested/going/not going. I don’t like that people can invite me to things that don’t interest me. I like that it organizes everything in one place.

User A: I like how you can see who’s going & not going. “That person sucks I’m not going”. I like how you can say “interested” so you don’t have to commit.

User F: I dislike that sometime I miss events because it doesn’t remind me or anything. Unless I’m invited to an event, it’s tough to find events.

How often do you use social mobile apps?

User E: 6–7 times/day

User A: ~20 times/day

User F: All day

Would you be interested in using a mobile app to find events on or near your campus?

User E: Is it something I would be invited to or all events? I would like it if I could filter it. I would like if I could make it so I could see only events I’m actually interested in.

User A: Yes, for sure

User F: Yes I would

What events would you like to find on this app (Parties, philanthropy, club meetings)?

User E: Parties, philanthropy, club meetings, leadership events, leadership conferences, professional events, athletic events.

User A: Seems like it would be two separate apps (Philanthropy and stuff vs. Parties)

User F: Club and academic meetings, if there’s a speaker coming to campus

What features would you like a mobile event broadcasting app to have?

User E: I would want to be able to add it to my Google Calendar, notifications, I would want a search so I could search keywords. Map to see locations, especially if it’s not on campus. I would like to see something about how large the event is, dress attire.

User A: Connect to other apps to have it pull in other events

User F: Map view, calendar, ability to add events to my Google Calendar, see who else is attending

How would you like the interface of viewing these events to be (Map, list, etc.)?

User E: I would like there to be an option. By topic, map, and calendar.

User A: List, I like lists

User F: Map view, calendar, list

— At this point the user was read the app proposal —

What do you think about this app?

User E: I like it a lot. Love the idea of being able to up and down vote. Love how its solely dedicated to events, not overwhelming like Facebook.

User A: Yes, it sounds awesome

User F: Sounds cool, I would use it

Do you have any questions?

User E: Any lists of events or via map? I want there to be a list as well.

User A: When can I download it [laughter]

User F: How would the list be sorted, would it be by net votes or total up votes

Would you want more than just live events?

User E: Yes

User A: Yes — future calendar preview would be great

User F: Yeah, it’d be cool to look at an upcoming schedule

Now having heard the description, what type of events would you use this app for?

User E: Anything, club meetings, professional events, parties, philanthropic events.

User A: Same as earlier

User F: Bar events, school events, speakers on campus, club events

Are their any features you would like to add or remove?

User E: I think there has to be future events. There should be a way to filter by topic. Algorithm that suggests events based on ones you’ve upvoted.

User A: Add future event listings

User F: Nope, sounds good

How likely would you be to use an app like this?

User E: Very likely, probably not as much once I leave college.

User A: 9/10

User F: Very likely, if a lot of people were using it I would say 9/10
