Next in our series of “LGBTQ romances from last year you forgot existed”, Billy Porter’s directoral debut, Anything’s Possible

Alright, brief backstory:

This was originally a script by trans screenwriter Ximena Garcia Lecuona under the name “What If…” (which got a name change, because….) that got on the 2020 edition of The Black List, an annual list of the unproduced screenplays that received most votes by members of the industry.

The film itself seems based on a now-deleted Reddit post (the script even has the original post on it)

I actually read the script for this before the film was even announced. If memory serves (I didn’t reread the original script), the script was fairly close to what was eventually filmed.

British actress Yasmin Finney, who would gain stardom on the chaste romance show Heartstopper, was originally cast in the lead role of Kelsa, but because of visa problems from COVID-19, the role was recast with Eva Reign.

The film didn’t seem to make much impact. Released on Amazon Prime, it largely came and went without much notice. Porter has gone on to direct an episode of Fox’s Accused.

Alright, now on the film itself:
