Madeline’s stomach churned as she made her way to Hope’s apartment.
She’d let Jarrett kiss her. Had, in fact, kissed him back.
Had she done the right thing?
She wasn’t looking for a relationship. She’d sworn off them, after Hope’s last match making attempt had ended so poorly, and a brief stint of one night stands the summer before had left her feeling unloved and unworthy.
With Jarrett she certainly felt his affection, though she still wasn’t sure she was worthy of it. But was it right to encourage him?
She found herself at Hope’s door, no solution to her predicament.
“Come in,” Hope called when Madeline knocked.
Her best friend was propped up on the couch, a movie playing on the laptop resting on her knees. Her hair was unbrushed, but other than that she looked fine.
