8 Noble Causes that Captured Our Hearts

A vision to fly across the world, overcoming homelessness twice, and children’s stories worth sharing; these are some of the causes that have made the first week of Ramadan memorable. Throughout the month, over 600 supporters from 14 countries are contributing towards these types of projects each day on LaunchGood. Below are highlights from the first 8 days of giving.

Al-Shifa Clinic

San Bernardino, CA

Living up to its namesake, Al-Shifa Clinic caters to the healthcare needs of underserved areas in the largest county in America. Al-Shifa provides a valuable service to those in need by operating on a pay-if-you-can policy.

Soles for Souls

United States

Nu Look Salon & Boutique has made some noise in the Twittersphere. Aiming to supply soles to some of the 300 million people worldwide who cannot afford a good pair of shoes, their campaign has garnered recognition from the likes of Abu Productive!

From Student to Scholar

Detroit, MI

Ganna Al-Mansoub’s educational path as a first generation Yemeni student has been both challenging and gratifying. With one year remaining in her Master’s program at Wayne State University, she’s blazing the trail for Muslim women in the field of Islamic Studies.

Ilyas & Duck

Fairfax, VA

It all started with a simple question from his child: “Where is Allah?” Since then, Omar Khawaja went on to write “Ilyas and Duck” for Muslim children looking to affirm their identity. The book has been a hit and now Omar wants to spread it across public library shelves all over America!

Stories for Orphans

United States

Heartwarming stories and humanitarian relief make Stories for Orphans a win-win for everyone involved. This Ramadan, 100% of the proceeds from book sales will go towards aiding orphans throughout the Middle East.

HoneyTree Books

United States

Every kid wants to hear good stories while growing up, including young Muslims who begin to cultivate their identity at an early age. HoneyTree Books offers personalized subscriptions for Muslim families that want their young ones to be part of a more engaging narrative!

Babar & Haris Around the World

IN, United States

A father and son set off with big ambitions to circumnavigate the globe by plane and raise money to build schools in Pakistan. Tragically, Babar and Haris’ journey ended in a fatal crash, but their legacy lives on with a documentary covering their inspiring adventure and mission.

Safe Haven for Homeless Muslim Families

Baltimore, MD

Nadia McIntosh knows what it’s like to live without a home and receive little help. Having experienced homelessness twice, she established an organization to tackle the issue affecting women and families in Baltimore. Not to mention, there’s a halal food pantry available to the community!
