Ethereum First and Bitcoin Thirteenth: China releases cryptocurrency ratings

The first cryptocurrency ratings from the experts of the Center for Information Industry Development was published yesterday and had already caused considerable sensation, as Ether became top in it, and Bitcoin took only “unhappy” 13th place.

Earlier, we have told about the fact that the Chinese authorities, in the framework of the measures taken to regulate the cryptocurrency industry, has decided to perform the rating assessment of cryptocurrencies. At first, 28 digital currencies, including Bitcoin, Ether, Litecoin, Ripple, Bitcoin Cash, NEO, Verge and Stratis, will undergo such an assessment. The ratings compiling is assigned to the Research Department of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the country. In the course of the assessment, experts consider such criteria as technological capabilities, innovativeness, as well as scope of application of the projects.

As a result, Ether, ranking first in the ratings, has received high grades on all three points. However, he became an absolute leader only in the scope of “application”.

“The results of the analysis show that the typical representative of the second-generation blockchain technology is Ethereum,” the compilers of the ratings note.

It is followed by cryptocurrency Steem, highly evaluated by the Chinese authorities for the number of transactions processed on the platform of the same name. The third and fourth places took Lisk and NEO, respectively, and Komodo closed the top five cryptocurrency leaders.

13th place together with Bitcoin shared Verge. In Bitcoin, researchers noted its undoubted qualities as a pioneer in the world of digital assets, giving it high grades for innovation, but it received low scores on the criterion of technological capabilities.

Ethereum Classic, Ripple, Dash, Litecoin and NEM have not scored enough points to be included in the main ratings and settled at positions from 16 to 28.
