Hi, this post is my HWW for the new

#budapest #lastweek.

More about the beauty behind the acronym, HWW, around the last bend.

As the lede to my curated and opinionated, in a righteous way, weekly roundup of relevant new articles from or about the gorgeous city of Budapest, Hungary. You will learn the ins in a bit.

Expect updates every Monday.

How I dare?

I lived in Budapest for decades. Besides, I still serve expatriates coming to or leaving the city. (Ahem.) Did you know I am the most viewed writer for Budapest on Quora?

So, I handle everything about Budapest with a bipartisan approach. One eye is the local’s eye. The other ear doesn’t understand a word in ‘Magyar’ (Hungarian.)

What I plan to cover?

Interesting shit that matters to expats and semi-expats. Semi-expats exist. After 10+ years and on a local contract with a Hungarian wife or hubby, you are safe to stop pretending you are still an expat.

Expect little politics or big business. Except if the news touches something deeper and more human in the expat lives of Budapest.

Why I couldn’t kill this side project of mine?

I have yet to find a weekly roundup that works for my taste. You’ll find a handful of source for getting a knack of what’s going on in or shaking the Paris of East. See Mark’s list from Budapestinc for further clues.

Yet I find it tedious to keep up with many news sources. Plus, I seldom get enough value added from news bits copied from other sources.

I find these are the tiny piece nobody wants to write up. So why not me? Why not now?

Where on earth I am publishing these?

For you interested in the brand of pencil Stephen King uses and even asking the five whys.

I bet, you are not discussing content curation tools while sipping your tea at 5 p.m. sharp. Find them here then. But I am the one who trusts, even new startups, therefore my tool of choice is elink.io.

They did a neat app with esthetics and responsive design principles in mind. Also, they streamlined the curated newsletter production process in a big way. What’s not to love then? OK, no analytics — like 5 people viewed your elink in the past 7 days — in the free plan, but apart from this weakness the guys over at elink.io rock.

Minor update:

I started experimenting with the format. The no views counting seemed to annoy me. Sorry, elink.io. Also, over time I expect some interaction. So the new liebling is list.ly where I have published a few things before.

If you kept the faith all the way. Spotted the symmetric beauty of the acronym for the post type — HWW — and the way I played out my how?, what?, why? with the bonus where? hidden in there. Then you’re my heroine and I love you Mum. Now, pretend you read on.

Let’s get the first issue down

I write about housing and destination services in Budapest, Hungary. Also, about trends affecting global talents in Central and Eastern Europe and the British-Irish Isles.
