Or: Benny Johnson Will Be Happy

Like the news cycle, this week’s props ran the gamut — from holding Lois Lerner in contempt of Congress to the winner of the Kentucky Derby and hating Obamacare…It finally feels like Congress was back to business as usual. There weren't any selfies, either.

Early on, California Representative John Garamendi (D-CA) took some time to honor Kentucky Derby winner California Chrome — both on the floor and on Twitter

I spent 4 years in Kentucky. I’ll own this bias.

And there was an entire day dedicated to holding former IRS Commissioner Lois Lerner in contempt of Congress…

I can’t tell if all that paper is more or less expensive than one, giant poster.

Representative Louie Gohmert (R-TX) whipped out the mainstream media family tree, or their ‘relationships with the Obama Administration.’

There’s more here.

And we had this nice little moment in the Senate where Senator David Vitter (R-LA) used a quote from Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT)… while Mr. Sanders was on the floor. The topic (Veterans heath programs) is coming up more and more — but I've never seen anything like this. You have to watch it.

Psst. Senator Vitter. He’s to your left.

And then Senator John Barrasso (R-WY) asked one simple question: A Fair Shot for Everyone?

Think they planned this?

…and Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY) answered him!

There was this Senator Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI) photo of himself — but it’s possible he didn’t like it…

So he tried one from the front, but worked to not stare at the camera…

So he tried the side instead!

Regardless — no selfies here and Benny Johnson should be ecstatic.

And don’t forget the ever-popular, “Title Page of Serious Report” poster. Senator James Inhofe (R-OK) is bringing it back.

On the cutting-room floor? Energy, victims of gun violence, Obamacare and more.

(Oh and since I’m writing this on Thursday — today’s #TBT is from the Nintendo vs. Sega days.)

My gun is bigger than yours, Senator.

Next week I’ll be on vacation but don’t worry — it’s only a short recess before I’m back with more posters.

Until then, see you on Twitter and the archive.
