If You Won’t Do It for Free, You Shouldn’t Do It For Money

Money changes people’s minds. Have you ever witnessed it before? Maybe someone insists they won’t do something and upon hearing how much they will be paid for it, their resistance dissolves.

Or maybe it was you. You were ignoring an opportunity until you saw how much it paid. All of a sudden you are interested. Nothing bad in that. Every successful person has felt that at some point in their journey. But you will do yourself a lot of good by this principle.

No matter how much the promise of money is, ask yourself if you would still do it if you don’t get paid. If you would not do it unless a huge amount of money is involved, maybe you shouldn’t. It is a sign that you shouldn’t.

This is not to say that you should do things for free. No! This is about judging the opportunities to make money that comes to you. If the money is the only thing making you think about accepting it, trust your guts giving you all the reasons not to take it.

I get opportunities all the time in different shapes and sizes. And I have said NO to most because I just don’t see myself going in the direction they are requesting. If I cannot imagine doing it freely without compensation, then it is a punishment to myself to get…
