INTRODUCTION

Talk is cheap! In fact, its one of the easiest things to do. That’s why we find people these days busy with other people’s business. We are quick at judging others, yet we forget our lustful soul. Muslims have enough matters of concern to the extent that one may not have enough time to deal with all of them. This is related to the issue of time management, whereby we need to be involved with matters that are of more concern and benefit to us.

Muslims need to be proactive problem solvers. We need to think

about our affairs, the community and the ummah at large. How can we improve these situations and not just being contented with the status quo. We should be slaves of Allah and not to our desires. The onus is upon us to think creatively on improving our situation in ways not contradictory to the sharia’h. Let’s endeavour to proffer solutions to these problems and not to be part of it.

INSPIRATION

On the authority of Abu Hurairah, radiyallahu 'anhu, who said : The Messenger of Allah, sallallahu

'alayhi wasallam, said :

"Part of the perfection of someone’s Islam is his leaving alone that which does not concern him."

[Hadith hasan - Recorded by Tirmidhi]

REFLECTION

  • We should be aware not to waste our time and effort in matters that are of no concern to us.
  • We should keep ourselves busy only with matters of benefit to us and to the ummah.
  • We should strive hard to improve ourselves, our communities and bring benefit to humanity.
  • Frivolous and trivial matters are of no concern or benefit to the Muslim.
  • Muslims should be proactive volunteers in bringing positive changes in communities wherever they are.

CONCLUSION

Matters of concern to the Muslims cover the affairs of oneself, the community and the ummah. We need to show empathy towards each other

and join hands collectively in facing the challenges of the ummah. This cannot be achieved by mere talk, its a drastic action that begins with how sincere we love our brethren at heart.
