BI Reporting in IBM Cloud Pak For Data v4.5
Data governance is used to enrich the data assets in Catalogs. But how will users know if their data assets are governed efficiently?
Purpose
As a Chief Data Officer of the organization or business owner of the organization one would like to know
- How many governance artifacts are defined in the platform?
- How many assets in the catalog is been associated with these artifacts?
- What is the data quality trend of my assets over a period of time?
To get information of above kind, User needs to collect all governance data into one single data mart and use this data to generate reports.
Overview
The data from which you generate reports is saved in an external database. This data captures information about catalogs, projects, and governance artifacts. User can generate reports to get insights about the WKC data. Bi Reporting service captures all data into external data mart which user can use to generate reports.
Reporting service supports relational database to store WKC data. Right now, service supports database type:
- Db2 with a Standard or Enterprise plan
- PostgreSQL version 12, and later
There are many specialized tools available to generate reports. for example: IBM Cognos, Tableau etc. User can connect data mart to these tools and generate reports.
This blog gives an overview on reporting service capabilities and links to other blogs which gives you the complete information about reporting service.
Following are links to the specific feature functionalities of reporting service:
- Configure reporting on governance data with DB2 for data mart.
- Configure Reporting in Cp4D v4.5 using Vault connection.
- Reporting on Governance Data with PostgreSQL.
- Pause and Resume the data synchronization.
We will update this blog continuously in future to reflect newly added capabilities in BI Reporting service.
