Being a multilingual has its own advantages and disadvantages. While the perks of speaking and understanding multiple languages can be a leverage, the downside of it is that sometimes you end up not being hundred percent fluent in one language.
Knowing 8 languages does not mean you are fluent in all of them
Let’s get one thing straight. Knowing or understanding a language is completely a different skill from speaking a language.
I consider myself fluent in (4) four languages.
To be more precise, the level of my fluency in each of these languages varies from one to another. Many factors play in determining why I consider myself fluent in one language more than the other but that is completely a separate discussion of its own.
