As I tear off my sweat-drenched boxing gloves and pant through the exhaustion, a speeding realization rams into me.
This.
This jolts me out of bed at 6 AM, gets my spirit roaring, and reminds me of the sheer awesomeness of being alive.
Not even in my early days of lifting had I felt such passion — a month since I started Muay Thai and it’s shot up to the top of my priorities.
Even writing, which enflames my soul, has taken a back seat — the others such as my full-time job, socializing, dating, and conversing with friends?
Mere after-thoughts. In a society that encourages people to identify with their work, my future introduction would be strange.
Not, “I’m a full-time software engineer.” But, “I’m a Muay Thai fighter and self-improvement writer. I also write code sometimes.”
