One of the highly touted features of the OnePlus One is the Sony Exmor sensor powering the camera. Coupled with the features CyanogenMod adds with their camera app, the combinations are mostly impressive. Here are the top five features for the OnePlus One camera.

Speed

The OnePlus One has a fast camera. When it comes to launching the camera app to shutter speed. The camera has impressive speed to it. In well lit to moderately lit situations, the shutter speed is fast to capture most shooting situations. There are also various ways to launch the camera. The gesture shortcut, swiping in from the lock screen, and the tried and true launching the app itself. All of which are speedy to start your food photography needs.

Manual Controls

For most people, Auto is where their camera is most comfortable. This applies to smartphones, point and shoots, and some DSLRs. But for the seasoned photographers and adventurous ones; the OnePlus One has manual controls that will satisfy the needs for most. You can adjust ISO, Focus mode, Exposure mode, and Shutter speed. This allows the inner photographer in you to have more control over the camera found in the OnePlus One.

Slow Shutter/Long Exposure Photography

I talked about this feature in my review of the camera, but I am still impressed by this feature. The OnePlus One camera has the ability to capture Long Exposure photography in a basic sense. By setting the camera to “Slow Shutter” and adjusting the shutter speed, you are able to capture a Long Exposure. This adds artistic emphasis to waterfalls or other movement. It also allows you to take light paintings, like the photo below. The Slow Shutter feature is a true photographer feature found in the camera of a smartphone. That’s absolutely impressive.

4K Video

4K is coming whether you claim you can see those pixels or not. The OnePlus Camera has the ability to shoot 4K video. That’s a resolution of 3840x2160. That’s a gigantic amount of pixels, and it looks gorgeous. While we may not have the ability to feasibly have 4K in our homes at this moment. It is coming, and the OnePlus One allows you to shoot 4K now. Just back it up to your computer and save it for when you have a 4K TV. That makes sense, right?

SloMo Video

Another video feature that I have grown fond of in the OnePlus One is the ability to shoot SloMo video. You are able to shoot 120fps video at 720p. Tech jargon aside, this means you can achieve some really unique and impressive SloMo video wherever you are. If you want to bring out your inner Michael Bay, you can do so with the SloMo feature on the OnePlus One. I’d be careful adapting beloved robots and turtles to film, though.

The OnePlus One has a seriously impressive camera. The entire phone is filled to the brim with features and quality. The camera is no exception. Fantastic photo quality and photographer savvy controls make for a great camera experience all around. These five features contribute to a fantastic camera formula for the OnePlus One.
