Early this year the part of the team got together in Vilnius and spent some time with each other at the beautiful Submarine Restaurant Vilnius before our product presentation. It was a wonderful experience.

On that day we had a very busy schedule with some VC meetups.

At the end of the day, we have realized that the time and efforts were not spent in vain. After months of assessment, we have finally decided to start a collaboration with a great team of consultants that will help us scale up our business model.

Blockchain education at high school bridges the gender gap

The rapid pace of blockchain development comes to the fore throughout the world in the coming years. Already now we understand that the significance of blockchain will progress and grow, and therefore, it will be heard and talked about much more often.

According to Forbes, the Blockchain Learning Group education company has implemented the first blockchain development training programs for high-school student girls seeking to reduce the gender gap in the blockchain industry.

Blockchain was supposed to bring equal opportunities for everyone in the world. At least, that’s what the creator of Bitcoin Satoshi Nakamoto conceived. Nevertheless, for 10 years, the idea has not come true. And this is best seen in the example of gender inequality. This is rather not a problem of a crypto market, but a problem of IT sphere in general. Traditionally it is believed that IT / Blockchain is a men’s world.

To be fair, it should be noted that recently, there has been a certain upward trend in the number of women in the cryptocurrency community. The desire of women to be on an equal footing with men in this area is supported by services and public organizations. Blockchain can really bring justice and relative equality. Technology cannot force people to do anything or make decisions. It can only provide the conditions for development.

CoinDesk published a survey, where 90% of the owners of the main cryptocurrency were men in 2015, in the early days of Bitcoin. Some people note that the reason for this is the gender gap in those industries as a whole. In the US, only 10% of computer science graduates are women. However, such statistics can be significantly changed: for example, one of the universities has increased the percentage of women to 40% in less than 10-year thanks to systematic and targeted programs.

The creation of access opportunities for all, ensuring equal percentages among developers, is a key success factor for an industry that prides itself on decentralization. Therefore, training programs and hackathons for schoolchildren, including those from the Blockchain Learning Group, can help overcome inequality among those involved in the blockchain industry.

Blockchain Learning Group offers training events for corporations and governments, but the company’s management is confident that the promotion of technology in the early stages of training will help to grow future leaders. They work with a number of schools, including girls-only schools.

The company seeks to systematize their programs using the same pedagogical methods that help the top management of companies and engineers to understand blockchain technology, and programs for adolescents, with special attention to applied skills training in the programming and app design to make students be able to create a different application independently. In total, the company plans to involve up to 1,000 schools in the system, expanding its geographical presence from Canada to Australia.

The culmination of the hackathon training program was that students and high-school students could demonstrate their skills in building useful applications, from the application for taxpayers to the tracking system of goods in the supply chain. It is noteworthy that the team from the school for girls in Australia won the Smart Cities Hackathon, held in Melbourne. After a number of victories, students can already choose new career paths in the industry, which means that inequality can be reduced.

Equality chance for all people around the globe is Edgecoin’s greatest wish. That is why we are daily working on our project.
