Music is what brings meaning to my life, as a classically trained singer and musician with a 4-year senior diploma in Indian classical music and 6 years of total practice, you can believe it when I say I am a lover of music.

I played harmonium (a smaller version of the keyboard) and tabla (pair of small drums played together), all my teenage years.

I was a perfectionist (sadly still am), I used to play the same piece for hours till I was able to play it with my eyes closed.

All the hours that I invested in building my skills as a harmonium player were wasted — according to my dad — when I didn’t pursue music in college.

But, does anything you learn ever go to waste?

There is always value in any art you learn, and your practice never goes to waste.

I may not play my instruments anymore, but practicing them during that crucial period of my life helped me build a foundation for practice and discipline, which is needed for any sport.

Here is how music helped me become a better athlete.

Practice Makes Perfect
