DHH So sad and for so many reasons I hope it doesn’t fail. The biggest being that it is the only “product” addressing a particular pain point that I have which is I no longer take the large media outlets seriously. I have been left searching for a “product” that allows me to not only find in depth pieces on news that I find important. I am also exposed to a wide range of new topics that have put context to things that actually do affect my life.

The fact that there is no other platform that comes close to rivaling Medium’s reach and diversity and that there isn’t anything there to take its place is concerning. What is equally concerning is that the VC’s who made the $132M investment without seeing a path to monetization or at least sustainability did so with their shareholders money. Something tells me someone must have a plan to get a return on investment, right? Or was it just a bad investment?

I really just want to know, I’m just a regular person who really likes Medium and would be interested in your follow up comment. Thanks.
