A Surreal Day

Inside the media industry as it says goodbye to a legend.

Today has been a surreal day.

Getting ‘The Call’ at 12am, with no more than 20 minutes of restless sleep behind you, all you can do is switch to autopilot, surrounded by colleagues and friends all doing the same. You watch as the world wakes up to the news and millions, one by one, express true emotion, and the choreographed precision of thousands of others like me go on doing what they need to do. Following ‘The Plan’. Only now, with caffeine wearing off and exhaustion creeping in, do you start to truly comprehend who and what it was all for, and what you’ve been a part of. A day I won’t forget in a hurry.

RIP Madiba.
