The Ronin were back on the offensive. Sergeant Tara Svenson gave her orders and she and her men advanced in a line to counter the enemy push. Gritting her teeth, she could tell the incoming skirmish wouldn’t be easy. An Archer and a Warhammer were stalking into the valley, their silhouettes visible beyond the pillars of the bridge. The Locust was dashing uphill to stand on the higher ground. Against that force, she could only muster two damaged Dragons and an UrbanMech.

The KungsArmé forces had some advantages, though. Their heavies were more mobile than their opposition for a start.

Keeping this in mind, Tara opened fire with her autocannon. The shells flew in an arc, some detonating against the pillars of the bridge, the others opening craters into the heavily armored chest of the Warhammer. She added her own missiles to the onslaught, with the other Dragon unleashing its own missiles, while the UrbanMech fired into the bridge itself, sending one of the Locust’s machineguns flying away from the small hull.

The Ronin would pay for the aggression, Tara thought. Like it or not, the Rasalhague Republic was here to stay, and its defenders would fight tooth and nail to guarantee that. No disgruntled samurai of the Combine would change that. A grin formed on her lips as the missiles exploded into the advancing giants. The battle was starting to turn.

Another of my favorites, the Dragon is, in its turn, associated with the Draconis Combine. On tabletop, this machine is sadly somewhat underwhelming, although fast and versatile. Still, the lore associated with it is quite interesting, and lean into that uniformity concept that I spoke about last time. In a way the loadout makes some sense — it is a versatile fast moved with some good weapons meant to work in most situations.

I decided to make a model based on the Free Rasalhague Republic, a faction I kind of like. Because it was a splinter territory from the Draconis Combine, its armed forces, named the KungsArmé, inherited some Combine equipment, including some Dragons.

Unfortunately, this territory would meet a grave reckoning some decades later. but that’s a story for some other time.
