My friend Mary recently took her Golden Retriever-Labrador mix, Max, to the dog park.

Max is usually timid and isn’t used to interacting with other dogs. Mary was a bit nervous about the visit.

As they walked around, Max seemed okay. He was sniffing and exploring but keeping his distance from the other dogs.

Then, things took a turn. A small, aggressive dog approached Max, wanting to play.

Shy Max tried to back away, but the smaller dog kept coming closer. It barked and nipped at him. Mary tried to intervene, but it was too late. The smaller dog bit Max, causing him to bleed.

Mary rushed Max to the vet. They treated and bandaged his wound. Despite their efforts, Max whimpered and cried throughout the night. He was clearly in pain and discomfort. It was a stressful experience for both Mary and Max.

When bringing a timid or anxious dog to a dog park, it’s important to be cautious and vigilant.
