I had the privilege of coaching a dear friend for a job interview. It was successful. And not just that, I was able to predict the defining moments of the interview. Thus, the inspiration for this post.

When you are invited for a job interview, there are 3 things you can be sure of:

  • The company has a personnel need
  • You look like someone they could hire (from a qualifications perspective)
  • The company hasn’t decided who to hire (if it is a reasonable company)

During the interview, your job is to present yourself as the candidate they have been looking for. This is instead of proving yourself as better than the other candidates.

Think about it: other candidates can best you at qualifications but it would be hard for a good company not to hire someone who already has great chemistry with them.

If you want your next interview to be better than your last, these are the tips I would recommend that made my friend ace hers:

1. Talk to an industry expert
