The “Siddhartha Mindset” Reveals the Secret to Achieving Any Goal
It isn’t about willpower, hard work, or focus
The book Siddhartha by Hermann Hesse is an essential read.
While it’s chockful of profound wisdom, there was one innocent-looking line that rammed me like a speeding truck:
“His goal attracts him because he doesn’t let anything enter his soul which might oppose the goal.”
If this doesn’t strike your body with lightning. Read it again.
Then again.
We Have It All Backwards
Our goal-oriented thinking goes like, “What should I do to achieve this goal?”.
We chalk timelines, chop down the goal into ToDo items, and salivate by fantasizing about the D-Day.
But how many of us think, “What should I NOT do to achieve this goal?”.
It’s not the lack of focus — but the abundance of distractions that slap us away from our goals.
We check our phones 160 times a day on average. The attention span of a goldfish is higher than our meager 8 seconds. Ads, pop-ups, and billboards are everywhere.
