The Vision for Bombe, pt 1

Start-ups need to be ambitious. In today’s world, with rapidly-expanding telecommunications, globalization, and the focus on innovation, the competition is fierce in the marketplace.

If they want to make a difference, start-ups need to dream big.

Through a series of 3 posts, we’re excited to give you a glimpse of what we’ve imagined for Bombe and for the future of science.

Since the start, Jack, Eddie, and Susie, knew they didn’t want to follow the bandwagon and build the next Instagram or Snapchat. They wanted to make a product that will fundamentally made a difference in people’s lives and change a field that they’re all passionate about: Science.

From personal experience, the co-founders pinpointed a common problem for scientists: they didn’t have great data processing software.

They require multiple tools to complete their work from start to finish. Some softwares have overly complex user interface, and scientists may be at a disadvantage if they do not have programming knowledge to use certain tools. Furthermore, with so much information collected from their work, scientists struggle with computing large data sets that require elusive supercomputers.

All this results in an inefficient, time-consuming experimental data analysing process.

Thus, Bombe was envisioned as the solution. Built upon 3 pillars:

  1. End-to-End Functionality
  2. Portable Cloud Computing
  3. Visual Searching and Sorting

All with the end goal of saving scientists’ time so they can focus on what they do best: research, research, research.

With the open-beta launch, Bombe has attracted more attention. Many users have tried the product and given us feedback. Using all these resources and continuous support from users, mentors, and the scientific and tech community, we will continue to build towards the vision of Bombe: a scientist’s go-to data processing tool.

In part 2 of “The Vision for Bombe”, we’ll explore some of the features we’re looking to build, how they’re going to address some flaws in existing software, and more importantly, how they’ll benefit scientists.

Cheers,

The Bombe Team
