How to upload a video to YouTube

Here you will learn how to create a YouTube profile, upload a video, and share the video.

1. Create an account

To access YouTube, you need a Google account.

• Go to YouTube
• Choose “Sign in” in the top right corner

• Login with your Google account or create an account with “Create an account”. You can easily have several accounts, e.g. a private e-mail and a teaching e-mail.

• Fill in the information
• Click “Next Step” to approve the information

• Go to the e-mail address you provided when setting up the Google account, and then activiate the account.

• Go back to YouTube and log in with your Google account.

2. Upload your video

• Click “Upload” in the top right corner.

• Start by choosing your video’s accessibility, using the drop down menu.

• Choose between Public, Unlisted and Private.

Selecting Public means that the video is accessible and searchable for anyone, and it can be ebedded in Blackboard.

Selecting Unlisted means that the video is only accessible to those you share the link with. The video can be shared through a link in Blackboard or be embedded in Blackboard.

Selecting Private means that the video is only accessible by you.

• Find your video file on your computer and drag it over the arrow and drop it.

• Your video is now uploaded.

If your video is longer than 15 minutes, you will have to confirm your account by text message. You do this by clicking the highlighted link on YouTube and follow the instruction.

• Wait for the “Proces” bar to finish and then click “Done”

• Your video is now uploaded, and you can view it by clicking the link

• If you have chosen Public or Unlisted under accessibility, it is also through this link that others can view your video.
