Alright, my annual October horror series continues, and I’m finally getting to an idea I’ve had for a few years: Watching every single Halloween movie during, well, October. The most appropriate month for it. Because why watch a movie series called Halloween in July?
This will be called Halloween-athon. Because it’s a marathon. Of the Halloween movies.
This will be my first proper movie review in a couple of years. As I’ve discussed before, I just didn’t have the desire to really do reviews in the style I did back on my blog (intro, synopsis, good, bad, conclusion). I’ve read several more analytical reviews and my style seemed very simple and never really got into more, intricate detail about the film, its themes or even my own opinions other than the technicals and adherence to traditional notions of plot and characterization.
However, I did have fun and more freedom doing more stream-of-consciousness reviews for TV. And that does seem a lot easier and allows me more leeway to go into a film and its thematic content. So, I’ll just do whatever comes to mind for a film and see how long it ends up. This might be scattershot, but I want do something a little looser, less conforming to a particular structure, and most of all, easiest to actually write when I’m not up to writing. Hopefully, if this ends up successful, I can start doing more longform film reviews again, and have a little bit more to say than just “it good, it bad.”
