Admit it, you thought immediately to this:

This fake ad is really quite good, honestly. It’s extremely catchy and memorable. Yet, in the film itself, there’s something of a menace to it. Every time it comes on, you feel a little disturbed. It feels like something is off. It’s a joyful commercial, but it’s also a bit spine tingling. Especially as more of the plot is revealed, you feel a little sick watching it. I suppose that’s the reason it even works in the context of the film.

It’s interesting how easily the filmmakers decided to pivot directly into trying to turn Halloween into an anthology series.

(I just realized, why is it called Season of the Witch? There’s a witch mask in the film, and I suppose the Samhain stuff is witchcraft, but they don’t make it clear in the film itself. I know it’s a reference to a George A. Romero film of the same name, but I haven’t seen that, so I don’t get the connection)

Anyway, director Tommy Lee Wallace directly compared the direction they wanted to take the franchise to the Rod…
