I think I can honestly say that I am the most prolific (not quite) no-budget moviemaker in the world. On March 13, 2001, I screened a feature length 16mm movie of mine at the Film Kitchen in Pittsburgh. I was on the same bill with a wealthy student at an expensive university who had just gotten a $15,000 grant on the strength of 4 short videos he’d made that were collectively around 10 minutes long. I had made 208 movies for around $15,000 by then over 25+ years. I’ve worked frequently with broken, borrowed, & otherwise unwanted equipment for 41+ years now & currently have over 467 finished movies that I’ve made — 136 of them are features. I’ve never had funding. My movies have consistently been hated & reviled because they’re anarchist, sometimes sexually explicit, always (m)usically ‘weird’, & ‘difficult to understand’.
