X (Season 11, Episode 4, Aired October 31st, 1999)

The opening is kind of funny, I guess. I liked the callbacks to previous in the Simpsons costumes.

“I Know What You Diddily-Iddily-Did” is a parody of obviously I Know What You Did Last Summer. Interestingly, unlike the other “recent” parodies shown, this film was only 2 years old at the time. There’s more an emphasis on mocking horror tropes than the movie itself, with Homer listing the various spooky places to hide, including a haunted roller disco and “the lake where those sexy teens were killed a hundred years ago today”. There actually isn’t really a lot of plot to this. The family kills Flanders, there’s a message saying “I Know What You Did”, and it turns out Flanders was a werewolf. I know these can only be about 10 minutes, but they do normally have a lot more happening. Still, the jokes worked, and the twist was kind of funny (if completely out of left field).

“Desperately Xeeking Xena” is another EC/MAD parody of a general genre, in this case, superheroes. More Marvel in this case, with a radioactive incident giving Bart and Lisa superpowers, and them becoming a team. There’s a cool Hanna-Barbara type cartoon theme song for “Stretch Dude and Clobber Girl”. The villain is Comic Book Guy as “The Collector”, though different from the Marvel villain of the same name:
