And… we’re back!
Through the anxiety, our slow slide towards civil war and/or fascism, and just the sheer amount of content, I have finally been able to get to this. It feels good to be doing this again, after several years of doubt. It’s really reinvigorated my writing spark.
Just a refresher: Every year since 2013, I’ve been doing a year end list. Instead of a traditional “good/bad” list, I take every single movie I’ve seen, and place it on a spectrum from the very worst to the very best. I didn’t do it in 2020, but decided to do it in 2021 (combining the two lists), and just decided to keep doing them.
Because these are time capsules of sorts. Not only the terrific and the terrible, but the mediocre. The films that history hasn’t marked down as remarkable.
Everyone remembers the great films, the good ones, the cult classic, and the so-bad-it’s-good, but what about those that people just don’t watch or they watch once and completely forget. That’s why I go through the trouble of cataloging every single one of these and making sure that this list is as comprehensive as possible. And hey, someone might discover a gem if it sounds like something they like.
And who knows, in a 1000 years, this list could be the only evidence that these films even existed.
A reminder, these are the films I saw in 2022, and I am one person, so some favorites will not be on the list. I haven’t seen RRR yet for example, because I wanted to see it with my mother (a native…
