Hey there 👋

1️⃣ Google & Apple — A Tale of Two Product Cultures • May 2019 • 7 min read
Apple has been on the news quite often because of its (abusive) AppStore policy, most recently with Epic Games. One way to look at their desire for hegemony can also come down to their product culture: they are convinced that to deliver the best product experience you need to couple hardware and software with “taste” (meaning control). It’s also a good reminder that among well-known companies they all have different product cultures (from Amazon to Apple), so we should too #datadriven #liberal #culture

2️⃣ This Product Prioritization System Nabbed Pandora 70 Million Monthly Users with Just 40 Engineers • Feb 2014 • 11 min read
Last week we talked about the power of constraint in successful products like Snapchat. I love how Tom Conrad applied it to prioritisation when he arrived at Pandora with a simple question he would ask: What would be stupid for us not to do in the next 90 days? That’s it. Funny enough, at comet, I came up with a similar question: imagine the product team can work for you only this quarter and never again later, what should we absolutely do? #prioritisation #constraint

3️⃣ How Uber uses psychology to perfect their customer experience • Oct 2019 • 5 min read
Uber experience is about waiting for a car: they can reduce it up to a limit, then what? They make as pleasant as possible the idleness through animation, operational transparency, etc. Most importantly they use to their advantage psychology models like the Peak-End rule #ux #mentalmodel

4️⃣ Laws of UX • N/A • 18 min
Talking about psychology rules, here is a great collection of UX principles to understand how the human brain work and process information. You’ll find the one that Uber used and 19 more to design experiences that makes sense. I highly recommend to study this general knowledge #ux #mentalmodel

5️⃣ A User Guide To Working With You • Aug 2020 • 9 min
I’m a huge fan of the user guide concept: a document your team can read to understand how to best work with you. Obviously everything your write won’t be true but the process of writing it will help you reflect and gain some clarity. I suggest that you ask your team to do the same and plan a meeting to talk about it. That way you created a conversation about collaboration (hence not assuming it would have worked without adjustments). Curious about mine? Here it is #collaboration #writing
