This January, Paard Verzameld, is celebrating its eighth year of empowering equine artists, connecting art collectors, and curating stunning art exhibitions! We are excited to share our plans for 2024 and build upon what you are already familiar with.
‘Paard Verzameld’: A Nod to Equine Art and the Equestrian World.
Why ‘Paard Verzameld’ and what does it mean? It’s a question that has been frequently asked over the past eight years, and now is the perfect time to address it.
‘Paard Verzameld’ (pronounced Pard Vur-zah-meld) is a Dutch phrase that roughly translates to ‘Collected Horse.’ The name reflects our mission of gathering and showcasing exceptional artwork that captures the beauty, power, and essence of horses.
Furthermore, ‘Verzameld’ (‘Collected’) also references the concept of ‘collection’ in the context of dressage. ‘Collection’ is an important term in the equestrian world, describing the re-balancing of a horse’s weight distribution when carrying a rider.
By choosing ‘Paard Verzameld’ as our company name, we not only honour the equestrian world but also convey our passion for horses and commitment to promoting equine art. Makes perfect sense!
In fact, hearing the words ‘Paard Verzameld’ being said by our artists and clients, in so many languages, accents, and dialects, has only strengthened my belief in the unique and unusual name we have chosen for this company.
The diverse voices that pronounce our name reflect the inclusive nature of our mission to celebrate and promote equine art from all corners of the world, reminders of the incredible connections we have forged with artists, collectors, and enthusiasts who share our love for horses and the art that portrays their essence.
