American graphic designer and illustrator Dane Khy (b. 1983) enjoyed his education at the Columbus College of Art & Design. He gets his inspiration from both sides of the scale. Hectic fast-paced work life versus simple country home life.

Dane lives with his family on a tranquil horse farm in Ohio, and works at the busy Columbus Metropolitan Library as their graphic designer. These two other world factors combined resulted in two completely different approaches to his art. Colourful, intricate artwork and simple line drawings.

“I think it helps explain why my style in certain pieces tend to shift from complexity to simplicity and vice versa”. — Dane Khy

The single stroke horse portraits are a challenge Khy has set himself for the new year in the ongoing love for an uncomplicated (life)style. Dane explains “It sounds very simple but to create such a piece that gives a visual sense of depth and meaning is anything but easy, there will be a lot of trial and error during the process.”
