Still photography by Portugese cinematographer Henri Prestes (b. 1989) from the series called ‘Perfect Darkness’ (2017). Prestes has spent many long nights creating the work near isolated villages in the most secluded parts of his home country, often surrounded by dense fog and heavy rain. These places are perfect for creating the atmosphere and cinematic narrative that he seeks.

“Sometimes I’m lucky enough to find wild horses roaming around and that beautiful sight also helps add to the atmosphere I’m trying to convey with these images. With these series I’m trying to capture the melancholy mood of dark eeriness that is often present in isolated places”
