Swedish artist Malin Hjelte has a Bachelor degree from Malmö University in culture, media and aesthetic forms of expression. She crafts her unique horses from wire and covers them with paper and painters tape.

“I start with a simple one dimensional wire base, then I use soft paper and masking tape to form the horse. A layer of varnish, paint with acrylics and then another layer of varnish to finish.” — Malin Hjelte

The figures are lightweight structures and small enough to be supported by a piece of string. They can have the appearance of ceramics, plaster and after the painting proces they can even resemble bronze.

Malin loves the fact that a piece or ordinary household material (masking tape) can be turned into a true work of art.
