French sculptor Olivier Courty (b. 1982) has been fascinated by art from an early age and uses a variety of materials like clay, metal, stone, composite or carbon to create his art. As an artist he never stops innovating and surprising the viewer with his own style.

This sculpture is called “Flogas” after the grey Irish sport horse Flogas Sunset Cruise owned by Irish showjumper Kevin Thornton, who collapsed and died in front of hundreds of people watching. In June 2017 Thornton was found guilty by the FEI tribunal of mishandeling the horse and ultimately causing its death.

The numbers embossed on the sculpture represent the amount of money being made of the horse by the industry surrounding him, regardless of it’s well being.

Merci Olivier!
